A little bit about myself. I have two daughters from my previous marriage and my eldest daughter has a son which makes me a young GRANDAD!!!

My story? It's pretty much the same kind of story that you'll hear from a lot of people – I've worked in various jobs from being a chef to doing security with crap pay and long hours. I tried MLM back in the 90's to make the lifestyle change and make the residual income but that didn't work probably due the fact that I was sold a dream.

A dream of how easy it was to make this kind of money by distributing catalogues each week then picking them up a week later, processing the orders, delivering the orders to my customers and building a team under me. If you've done MLM, then you'll know the kind of thing I mean.

 This sounded great at the seminars and I saw the other distributors being recognised and getting the bonuses as they moved up the levels and I knew that I wanted to be up on the stage the same as they were. However nobody said how difficult it was going to be or how many times I would have to go out in the pouring rain just to pick up soggy catalogues that had been left out.

 Replacements had to be bought with my money and at the time in my area, there were loads of distributors all doing the same thing, so basically I began to lose money hand over fist. But I had bitten into this freedom away from working for someone else and I could see the potential.  

Time Freedom: It was essential that whatever I did enabled me to still be able to spend the time that I wanted to with my family, something that could fit around the hours of being a dad and husband.

Leverage: I needed a business that would enable me to make money… even if I wasn’t there working. A business where I wasn’t trading my time for money.

 No financial ceiling: I wanted a business where there was huge potential, something that could really grow. Not like a 9/5 where you only get paid what someone thinks you’re worth, or a job where bonuses are few and far between, if any. I wanted a business where if I put the efforts in I could reap huge rewards with no limit on my earning potential. 

Flexibility: I wanted to be doing something that gave me flexibility, that didn’t tie me down to one place, I love to travel, I loved going down to Cornwall to surf. I needed a business that could move with me wherever I went.

Enjoyability Factor: For many this may not seem like a priority… but after working in paid employment for years, I know what it’s like to hate what you do. If I was going be doing something for myself I needed to make sure that it was something that I could get excited about, something that I would want to do, and have passion for.

Unfortunately circumstances changed and my then wife and I split up. The children stayed with her and I moved out. It was shortly after that I came to realise that if I ever wanted to get out of the crappy situation I was in – only one person could make it happen – ME! So I took to the Internet in search of the answer… little did I know it would turn out that the Internet was the answer! But it would be a few years before I fully used the internet. To start with it was all about Direct Mail and selling information products i.e videos, cassettes then CD's , modules. The internet was just really starting to take off.

There was NO Google, No Facebook, No PayPal – nothing that we see today. So when the internet really started to take off, I jumped at the chance to make money and build an online business. But there was a HUGE learning curve. Phrases and techniques I had never heard of. Learning about websites, html, how to upload photos and images and this was before the likes of Twitter, Facebook and YouTube had started.

I wasted thousands of dollars on courses and would jump from onw to another, thinking that the particular one I was doing at the time would be THE ONE! I had too much information overload and consequently I had NO focus as I would be jumping from one thing to another. Eventually I decided to get mentored by a young guy from the UK who I had heard of by the name of Alex jeffreys. I joined up to his mailing list and started to receive emails from him.

One of these mails contained information about a new coaching program he was going to start so I signed up for it. Best move I ever made as his mentoring gave me the focus and determination that had been lacking. So everything I learned from him, I started to include in my business. In a few short years I have gone from a complete internet newbie… to making money in my first year online and then on to coaching & mentoring others to do the same.

The Internet has enabled me to create myself a successful business that I can run from anywhere in the world providing I have my laptop, and thanks to the way I have set up my business, much of what I do is highly automated giving me the time freedom that I yearned for in a home based business. I now work from home and have a web design and consultancy business - www.wave-marketing.co.uk where I design websites and blogs for small to medium local businesses and also coach the owners on how to market themselves online using twitter, blogging, facebook and the likes.

You can do the same and work from home with my help. But I'll tell you now that you have to put in the time and effort. There is NO magic button, NO magic pill or potion that will make you rich or successful overnight. This is NOT a 'Get Rich Quick' scheme. It is, however, a Get Rich Forever program that takes dedication and detemination and focus.

 I truly believe that ANYONE can succeed if they have the right system in place. The majority of people fail because they have no direction and just keep looking for the ultimate “Get Rich Quick” scheme.
