Interviews are an exceptional information format. With the right contacts they can be easy to create and cost next to nothing. They fit a lot of different niche types and can be formatted to fit just about any topic. For example, a website about fiction writing can interview an agent or a successful writer. A website about parenting or photography can interview an expert in the field.
Using Skype along with 'Pamela' you should be able to get some great interviews with experts in your chosen niche. Ideally you want it to be a Q & A interview and if you're stuck on what to ask the expert(s), then you could email your list and ask THEM what they would like to know.
If you're at a seminar or workshop you could use a camcorder either on a stand or by asking someone else to record the interview for you. You would need to use an external microphone though to get good quality sound.
It's down to you how many experts you try and get on board. Some may be more reluctant than others to be interviewed, but if you're going to give them and their business free exposure, then they should be agreeable.
Ideally you want the interview to last a minimum of 15 minutes and even if you ask the same questions to five different experts, you'll have yourself a good quality product.
Once you're recorded the interview amd if its audio, why not get it transcribed into a downloadable pdf as an extra bonus for your clients.
Pros
- Easy & inexpensive to create. Simply need an expert to interview and recording equipment. Audacity is free.
- Offers tremendous value to your audience.
- Can be turned into additional information products. You can sell or giveaway the recording and the transcript. Additionally, you can use the transcript to create articles, blog posts, Tweets and Facebook posts. You can even use it to create reports or workbooks.
- Use a collection of interviews to create an ebook, report, mp3 or add to a membership site
Cons
- Generally doesn’t sell for a high price in your product funnel. Best used as a giveaway or bonus products.
- May be tough to get an “expert” to agree to be interviewed.
As with anything, you'll probably be a little nervous to start with and it may be out of your comfort zone, but once you've got a few under your belt and have built good relationships with experts, there is a lotta fun to be had.
